“General. He’s here.”
I had never seen the general like this before before. He stood taller than the rest, prouder as well. But there was something…something there, and not there. The violence and sureness were gone, replaced by…something that made him more terrifying. And he was walking right towards me. The wood in my hand cracked, as I quaked with fear.
“Careful with that spear, boy. If it breaks, you won’t be able to rely on it. And then they will break you, over it.”
His words scared the fear out of me. I relaxed my grip.
“Is there anything to report, boy?”
He took a step past me, not even glancing my way.
“Sir, he’s down there, and he’s talking.”
